Much Like Lightning

Her love left as quickly as it came
Much like the way lightning strikes
Piercing its beacon through the chaos of the storm
With fury too determined for comprehension
In a language far too complex for translation

Her love came crashing into my world
Teaching me this law of the universe
Awakening my faith in moments
In how they pass as swiftly as the weather
In how they linger as long as a lifetime

Her love left as quickly as it came
Much like the way lightning strikes
Trailing a roar of thunder in its wake
With parts of me I didn’t know I had set afire
In a majesty too painful to forget, too perfect to regret
